Laundry and Work and Groceries, Oh My…

Okay, so you’ve had plenty of time to catch up on the posts you’ve missed. I’ll use that as my lame excuse for not writing during the past week. The truth is — I am going non-stop these days. I’m sure we all feel that way to some extent, so I won’t complain (too much). Between all the mommying (don’t know if that’s really a word, but it should be), household obligations (I’ll spare you the list), trying to work from home (yeah, good luck to me), and squeezing in some family fun, I feel like my head is spinning. And oh yeah…friends. Apparently you need to fit friends in there somewhere, too. But here’s what I want to know: When do I get my hair cut? And I’ve been dreaming about a basic mani/pedi for months now. Just a basic one — nothing fancy. Dreaming, I tell you. If you’ve seen my feet, you know they’re dreaming of it, too. But wanna know what I’m doing this weekend? Hold on to your hats. I’m going to the dentist to have a cavity filled. The dentist. On a Saturday. Yeah. My friend, muffintopmommy, recently posted about her “vacation” to the dentist. And all I have to say is Wow.  And I totally get it. I’ve fallen so far. Who has time for mani/pedis what with all the trips to Target and Stop & Shop, trips up and down the stairs to do laundry, and trips to the refrigerator to prep the little guy’s bottles (speaking of which, I told myself I would never say baba, and to my horror, I’ve heard myself say it several times…who am I?). Hell, I should be rail thin by now. Which reminds me, who has time for the gym? It burns me to see that monthly deduction from my checking account. I tell myself lies: No really, you’ll go. And then I purge myself of  guilt with the reminder that my health insurance company essentially pays for it anyway. Okay, so back on track (see, I’m totally scattered). And how do I not have any paragraph breaks in this post? Don’t think it doesn’t bug me; I am that anal. Because quite literally, it all runs together. BottlesDiapersBlocksNapsNonapsTargetWhiningDinnerLaundryEditingLaundryDishesDusting. Whew. I do, however, count myself quite lucky to have a beautiful son and wonderful husband who supports me through all of this mayhem. We even managed to squeeze in a little apple picking this weekend. Ahhh…deep breath.

Its is so hard!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the post office the other day and my dad watched the girls… i am never by myself!! I let two people go ahead of me so I could enjoy the peace and quiet a little longer!!! True!

  2. Marie’s simple solutions:

    1) Join a gym with daycare–worth every penny! Except I finally got my pre-pregnancy body back about 1 week before I found out i was pregnant again.

    2) You make an appointment for a haircut on a Saturday or Sunday, tell your loving husband that you have a MAJOR APPOINTMENT that day (he will think it’s the ob/gyn and not press for details) and then enjoy your haircut and mani/pedi. Make sure to read a trashy magazine while there.

Family Fun is good. But if Mommy ain’t happy, NOBODY’s happy. The boys need to learn this stat.

I’m laughing right now…so much to say….I was totally wondering about the paragraph breaks! HEE! But you totally hit the nail on the head…the lack of paragraph breaks sort of illustrates the hamster on a wheel feeling we all experience as moms a lot—you go and go and go, until one day you realize your feet are neglected, your tooth has a hole and your bangs need trimming! And oh sister, you are SO singing my song on wondering why all those trips up and down stairs don’t translate into weight loss. I said that to a random at the carpet store today as I was running to grab my 2 year old from escaping out the door into a busy parking lot—WHY AM I NOT SKINNY!! WHY! Oh and thanks for the mention—I feel honored! HEE. Enjoy your vaca Saturday! 🙂
